For my 30 Day Challenge I will be attempting to learn a foreign language or at least the basics of it. The language I have chosen to learn is Korean.
Note:
A few months ago, I already started learning, but for some reason, I didn't continue to learn. When presented with the 30 Day Challenge, I found that this is the perfect time and opportunity to continue It be lessons.
Why?
I believe that learning another language is beneficial in communicating with people from around the world and bringing us closer together.
Goal:
To learn how to read and write Hangul and learn basic words and expressions by the end of the 30 day challenge.

Plan:
Through using the free mobile app, Duolingo, I can set daily goals for me to reach. The app gives you options on the amount of work you'd like to do on a daily basis. It also provides different levels of learning and you'll have to gradually work your way up from the basics.

Obstacles faced AKA Typhoon YutuAs we all clearly know, our island was struck by one hell of a monster typhoon. It just so happens that we were in the middle of our 30 day challenge. Now, some might say, "Your challenge is literally an app, how does the typhoon affect it?" However, my challenge depending on an app IS the reason why it was challenging during the Post-Yutu days simply because of electricity. We did not have power for a long time and charging my phone at least once a day was basically a miracle. So, after Yutu, I decided to put my challenge on hold. Once class started again, so did my challenge. Even though some days I forget to do the daily exercises, I try and make it up anyway when I get the time.

Was my "30 Day Challenge" goal met?
Before the challenge started, I stated that my goal for the 30 days that followed will be "to learn how to read and write Hangul and learn basic words and expressions by the end of the 30 day challenge." After 30 Days, I can say that if we take that statement literally, then yes, I can read and write in Korean. However, even though I can read the letters, sound them out, and write them, I still don't understand the words. To sum it up, I can read the words and letters, I just don't know what they mean. Even though I can't understand what read, I personally believe that just the sheer fact that I can "read" the words and letters, makes me feel accomplished. I will 100% continue using this app as long as it's not everyday and that do it solely on my free time.
