INTRODUCTION SPEECH
PERSONAL EVALUATION
This video was take 17 and I still needed to put two separate videos together because I couldn't manage to get it done in just one. I noticed that I kept moving my arms around, but not as hand gestures. That was just me trying to shake off the nervousness. I also kept trying to make complete eye contact throughout this video, which was extremely difficult. I would catch myself looking away from the camera. I would stutter and say "uhm" every now and then as an excuse to figure out what I'm going to say next. I feel like my volume was okay, but I do need to work on making strong eye contact, speaking with a non-shaky voice, and using hand gestures. GOALS - Speak with confidence - Refrain from stuttering - Use hand gestures - Stronger eye contact |

FAVORITE SPEECH
MONOLOGUE SPEECH - MAUI AND MOANA MEET FOR THE FIRST TIME
The monologue speech is ranked as #1 on my list of favorites because it was fairly simple to meet the requirements and most especially because it was a lot of fun. My partner and I, along with my younger sister, drove all the way to Wing Beach in Marpi to film this project because I needed to be in an isolated area where my voice could be heard. Wing Beach was the perfect place to act out my scenes for this project because of the scenery. It matched the scenery in the original video really well. Also, I was able to find the perfect prop for this speech, you can see it shown in the thumbnail. It represents the heart of Te Fiti. I had a lot of fun acting and editing this short video, it was such an amazing experience!

REFLECTION
At the start of this course, I was a bit nervous because I knew I would need to be speaking in front of a crowd for the entire 16 weeks. I definitely needed some work in terms of speaking because it wasn't one of my strong suits. A few of the goals I chose to achieve by the end of the semester were to speak with confidence, refrain from stuttering, use hand gestures often, and maintain strong eye contact. The requirements of many assignments throughout the course definitely helped me achieve those goals! When something is required, like the use of hand gestures in an impromptu speech, it gives me the opportunity to actually practice. I believe I achieved most of the goals, except just one. I still struggle with maintaining strong eye contact, but at least it isn't as bad as it was in the beginning. Reading the textbook "Talk Like Ted," and watching the short TED talks also helped me in achieving my goals for this course. The tips and examples they offered were very beneficial to me. I can now speak to a crowd with confidence and the least amount of stutters. The tongue twister assignments given throughout the course helped me so much with my stuttering and I plan to continue using this technique to master speaking without mixing up my words. I also plan to keep the textbook I used for this course so that I have some type of reference with me whenever I need to refresh my mind on certain speech tips. This class was a great experience, a memorable one for sure!
