CO210-04: Favorite Speech Reflection
One of my biggest goals that I wanted to achieve was to speak with confidence and enthusiasm. I can say that I pretty much accomplished that because before, I was always worrying about what people would have to say or think of me when I speak in public. Now, I just keep talking and talking, just so I can finish my part. And because of that, I have been able to speak with more enthusiasm - even with topics that I am not familiar with or do not like; I just end up sounding enthusiastic about it (it is probably just in my nature though). I also learned that I should not fight the shaky-nervous feeling that I almost always get when I speak. All I can think of right now, to improve my public communication skills in the future, is to just keep speaking and practicing. I should just face the fact that I cannot run away or hide from public speaking - especially since, I am a business (accounting) major - and just deal it with head-on. "Just gotta get it over with" is what I would like to say to myself and to my friends - whom also says that to me - when we try to hide/run away from something we do not like.
I chose my speech, my This I Believe speech, because even though it was one of the first speeches I ever did in the class it, it is still one of my favorites. In my This I Believe speech, I was able to be “myself” and share my views of being a dreamer – my artistic view of the world. I also liked how the speech itself is based on how I would be talking – I did not have to use complicated words that I am not familiar with. I am not sure about how to rate my speech, but I would most likely give it an 7.5 out of 10 because other than grammatical errors, I also need to adjust the flow of my ideas in order to make it clearer.

Please make comments or suggestions on my introduction speech Thanks!
My Evaluation of my Intro.
In my self-introduction video, I was very brief in introducing myself. I would say that when I speak I am a wandering and a sometimes confused speaker. I describe myself as a wandering speaker because when I do a presentation, I tend to look up especially when I lose my train of thought. I also say that I am a confused speaker because I also stutter a lot and make pauses once in a while to gather my thoughts. I hope this course would help me improve my public speaking skills because I would like to project the image of a confident speaker that speaks more clearly and pauses or stutters less. My strengths when it comes to speaking is being enthusiastic towards the topic I am presenting; I would always do my best to be enthusiastic towards the topics I am assigned to present. I am usually told that every time I present, I always project a happy and enthusiastic attitude towards the topics I am presenting.
Overall, I would like to stutter and make less pauses when I do presentations, so I that can share my thoughts in a way that is clear and organized.
How was my video?
