Evaluation:I enjoyed filming this video. It made me realize how hard it was to make sentences sound fluid when speaking for a prolonged period of time. Some good points that I see is that there was enough to talk about and all of these point tied together in many ways. Some bad points I see could be the excessive use of the word "uh." This is a bad point because it doesn't make the speech seem as fluid and causes break in between sentences. I hope to find the solution to problems like this in this class.

Reflection on my Goals: |
My personal favorite speech of the course was the demonstrative speech. In my demonstrative speech I taught the class how to play 8-ball pool. My speech was about 5 minutes and to me this speech didn't feel like I was doing homework, it felt more like I was showing the class a pastime that I really love to play. I chose this as my favorite speech because I got to teach the class something that I really enjoyed doing. I got to go and have fun playing pool while also doing homework for my class. I had a lot of cool pictures and graphics that really pulled together my entire speech.

The goals that I had set for myself at the start of the semester seemed very achievable as long as I committed towards having the mentality of becoming a speaker. I had reached these goals and can now say that I am much more confident as a speaker now than I was at the beginning of the course.
When I thought of fluidity I thought that your speeches just had to continue without any breaks, however I learned that pauses and breaks in your speaking makes you sound much better than continuously without any pauses at all. I found ways to stop from stuttering such as speaking what first comes to mind instead of getting stuck on trying to think of what the right words in your head are. I became less nervous with each speech that I participated in. Over time and through exposure, you become a more confident speaker naturally. Hand gestures and eye contact was not a problem for me and I was am now able to interact and get my point across to everyone in the room through gestures and eye contact. Overall I became a better speaker than I was in the beginning of the course. The goals that were set were easily accomplished through the many speeches that we had to do. I wanted to become a confident speaker and set that goal which I can say I have thoroughly completed. |
