Introduction
Self Evaluation:
As I watched my recorded introduction video I realized I blinked quite a lot. It was definitely not much of an issue but shows a lack of confidence. I tried to restrain from the word "um" as it would show a lack of preparedness. Further into my introduction I did find a few more flaws such as a low speaking voice and lack of hand gestures. Overall I am proud of how my introduction came out and look forward to improving my skills these semester.
Course goals:
My goals for this semester is to be able to use body language and gestures to accentuate my communication and speech skills. I also hope to gain more confidence through this course in writing and presenting speeches. Lastly, I would like to be able to plan appropriately and engage with my audience.

Demonstration Video/ Favorite Speech
|
This is my favorite speech because it was fun and easy to produce. I really enjoy cooking because of the process. It took a couple of practice runs but it was worth the result. Also, being able to share my knowledge on cooking with my peers was a great experience that has allowed me to open up even more. Another reason why I favor this speech is because of its authenticity. I feel like this speech was my most natural speech and the edits at the end add a little spice to my presentation.

Hello everyone! What is your favorite dinner dish? For my demonstration video I have decided to prepare a dish for you all. The dish I decided on was mac' and cheese. I chose this dish because of it simplicity and overall taste. To demonstrate I will prepare the dish and cook it for your viewing.
Step 1: Wash hands and preheat oven to 350 degrees
Step 2: Boil pasta and cook for 4-5 minutes, strain and set aside
Step 3: Add butter, flour, salt, pepper, whole milk, heavy whipping cream, and cheese to a medium size pot and simmer till it reaches a creamy consistency, set aside
Step 4: Add bread crumbs, butter, paprika, and parmesan cheese to a bowl and set aside.
Step 5: Mix cheese sauce and pasta well in a large mixing bowl.
Step 6: Grease pan and add pasta.
Step 6: Cover the top with bread crumbs and bake for 25 minutes at 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
There are many ways to make this dish, but personally this is the way I like it. You may add a few of your own touches to your liking to better this recipe! Enjoy <3

Community Issues Final Speech
Community Issues Speech Manuscript/ Essay
While others may have different opinions as to why our climate is rising, the ongoing continuation of water and land pollution has proven to be the number one reason behind this issue in our community. Looking at pollution through the lens of its growing concern and its impact on our ecosystem—the focus of this speech—is significant for a myriad of reasons. According to recent research, I have found that about 9,000 pounds of trash were found along our coastline (Limol, 2020). The most popular item among them all was none other than plastic bottles. The ongoing release of industrial wastes into the environment is constantly affecting sea life, people, and ecosystems. If everyone sustains such unethical practice, then the future generations will pay the ultimate price, which could be the lack of proper homes, clean beaches, health issues, etc. Pollution needs to be controlled because it will affect the land and health of others. It is important to keep in mind that when contributing to such activities, Saipan will continue to experience a rise in climate.
Climate change has been evident in many areas of these past years. A great issue we have faced as a community in regards to climate change is the recurrence of super typhoons (Perez, 2018). The constant recurrence of these storms is evidence of climate change in our environment (Perez, 2018). The establishment of new infrastructure and rise in population contribute to these issues as well. The more we increment to a damaged environment, the more we compromise our safety.
I have mainly lived in Saipan my whole life and it has shown me several factors that are lacking aid. When I would go swimming at beaches in the South, and even some in the North, I would notice a potent smell coming from the sand. The sand on most of the shores was black and lacked texture. I also noticed a great decline in fish in and out of the reef. Our waters need protection, and we need to advance our sewerage water treatment. Another factor would be illegal dumping. Some people use our land for their convenience by dumping their waste in unoccupied areas to avoid paying for bi’, lls, and this contributes to the mass in land pollution. Consequently, the land will continue to worsen over time, spiking our climate to an even higher level.
To refine this research a survey was conducted to expand this issue. A total of 50 participants were present to produce the following results. When asked about climate change, about 72% of surveyed people claimed that they noticed an immense change in our climate. The information is crucial to this topic because over half of the surveyed people are seeing an increase in the climate. Furthermore, when people are asked about the reason behind this change, about 80% of them answered pollution, and 100% of them agreed that pollution is an issue we face in the CNMI. This statistic is important because it proves that when faced with recent circumstances, others are slowly realizing that pollution is an ongoing issue that others pay minimal efforts towards controlling pollution. The accumulation of this research has been crucial in understanding the public’s view on this issue.
To wrap up my discussion I would like to clarify a few things. Pollution does not target certain individuals, it affects everyone just as equally. So if you think that pollution is only an issue in poorer regions think twice. We are all affected by the actions we commit to as human beings. As pollution continues to rise, Saipan’s climate will shift as climate change is a global crisis. The effects we are currently experiencing will only build up over time, causing major environmental issues. Please do no be negligent when it comes to issues such as pollution. Protect the environment and the planet will thank us one day.

My Reflection
This semester has greatly benefited my speech delivering skills. Before taking the course I had very little knowledge on proper speech techniques and ways to improve. As time progressed, I learned to become more confident and well spoken as I approach to persuade/ entertain/ inform someone. Another improvement I have noticed in my skills is my eye contact. To improve on this I created notes on my laptop as an "outline" to guide me throughout my speech. I also learned to be myself and to never be a phony! When I give speeches I give the expressions I believe are suitable for the situation. This course has been a real big help, but I am not completely there yet. I know there is still lots of room for improvement, so I will continue to practice my speech skills.
