"I love how passionate you are about psychology and astrophysics and it really shows when you talk about it. Your speech was well spoken and almost poetic in a way. Good job!"

During the first weeks of class, our introductory speeches were pro-bono. Introduce yourselves and therefore also make your first speech under your own impression of how a speech is for us. In my introductory speech, I chose to build my topic around an interest of mine, instead of listing down specific details about me. Specifically, I feel that I could improve on being more personable.
During the course, one specific area I took great interest in is the structure of elements you can apply to your speech to make it well rounded, influential and therefore effective. Pathos, Ethos and Logos. Out of all the lessons, I find that these elements combined into a speech - more so pathos - could incite an audience to be more receptive and open to actively listening. |
☑️ Applying confidence when speaking, regardless of it being practiced, or impromptu.

From the various speeches we've had in the class, the speeches where everybody was encouraged to participate were amongst my personal favorites. Our demonstration speeches was both an educational and fun experience. I felt that most of the students, including myself, began to feel more comfortable with each other as we open ourselves more. Confidence is important in speech making, and the demonstration speech empowered everybody to show their utmost talents, skills and their enjoyments. |
