Reflection
Hello everyone my name is Fermin Dela Cruz and this is my Introduction Video. Before starting this I thought it would be a piece of cake, but in reality it was really hard. THANK YOU for watching my introduction video. I hoped you enjoyed it and it wasn't too bad. Sorry for the sideways video
GOALS
My academic goals for this class is to better myself in giving speeches and presentation, as well as learn how to speak with uttermost confidence.
This I Believe Speech
This I believe. I believe in treating people with fairness and equality, regardless the race, religion, gender, or ethnic background. All people should be treated the same. No one should ever feel like they don’t belong or feel out of place just because they are not similar to certain groups of people. We were all created the same, so I believe that there is no such thing as someone being superior to the rest.
I did not always have this mentality or way of thinking. I used to be a judgmental person. I would criticize a person based on where they came from, which religion they chose to believe, or even something as simple as the people they hung out with. Looking back I’ll admit that I was wrong, very wrong. I did not really understand what it meant to treat people with fairness and equality up until it was my turn to be judged and criticized because of where I was from. When I left Saipan to join the army in 2012 it put me out of my comfort zone, it put me in a place where for the first time I felt like the minority in terms of race.
All throughout my military career I’ve learned so much about equal opportunity and I learned how not to judge, but accept and treat the people I was to be working with fairness and equality , because those same people whether I liked it or not will be the people I turn to when shit comes to worst. No one will have my back if I don’t show them the same respect, fairness, and equality they showed me. Even though I was the only Pacific Islander in my unit they made me feel like I did belong, and that is not something you will find in an organization full of racial and cultural differences. That made me see things differently like if they can treat me equally even without knowing me then I could do the same.
Until this day that is a few of life’s most valuable trait that I hold on to and follow, because in order to learn about something you would have to experience it, and to experience something and learn from it could change your perspective of how you view things. Now I don’t judge and make assumptions towards others. Instead I accept anybody and everybody for who they are. For me who you are as an individual makes you unique and with the ability to look past somebody’s differences makes you a better person. So I believe in treating people with fairness and equality. I hope you all do too.

Reflection II
My goals for the semester were to better myself in giving speeches and presentation, as well as learn how to speak with uttermost confidence. I believe that within the time I spent in this class learning techniques gave me a better understanding on how to give speeches without letting the little things overcome me. So yes, I believe that I achieved what I wanted to achieve. What I would like to have went differently was executing the speeches more better but that's the beauty of it, you can never stop improving. My favorite speech was the I Believe Speech. I chose to use this speech because it was a speech that meant the most to me. All the other speeches were given and not really something that I chose to do on my own. I really liked this speech because it gave people a better understanding of what my beliefs are and how it shaped me to be the person I am today.
