Introduction Video
CO210-04
GOALS:
My main goal for this class is to finally break down this wall I've grown up with. A wall that holds me back from answering questions in class, giving my opinions, speaking to a large crowd, and anything that has to deal with public speaking. I've always had a fear of public speaking especially if I were to give a speech or perform a debate. In fact, I was (and probably still is) terrified with what I'll be doing in this speech class. However, I am looking forward to it and definitely looking forward to the new things that I'll learn in order for me to become a better speaker.

REFLECTION:
For my introduction video, I believe I did an okay job for a person who hates public speaking. One thing that I think I'd do better on next time is looking away from my audience. During my video, I kept looking away from the camera because I was nervous and trying not to doze off during my introduction. Another thing that I'd need improvement on is repeating myself, stuttering, and using the term "uhm..." And the last thing that I think I need to improve are my hand gestures. During my video I did a lot and it might seem distracting to my audience if I were to give a speech in the future. I tried to add a little humor in between so it won't sound like a plain and boring introduction. I also tried to engage with my audience when I mentioned the part about being the oldest sibling.

Favorite speech and why?
|
The demonstration speech was my favorite speech throughout the whole semester because I really had a fun time doing the whole process. Making the dish, recording it, presenting it, and of course tasting it! I would rate this speech as "good" because even though the video was somewhat perfect, I was kind of nervous delivering the speech on the day. I think it was my best speech out of all the other speeches and I'm glad my classmates and teacher enjoyed it as well :)

End of semester reflection
When I found out I was required to take a speech class, my heart dropped to my stomach because I do not do well with public speaking. I actually tried to avoid it during registration week. Anyway, throughout the course, every time it was my turn to speak, I became a little less scared and just did what I had to do. My volume because louder, I gave a little more eye contact, but of course I was still nervous no matter what. What I plan to do to further my speaking skills is to just practice more speaking in front of a crowd of people and use the skills that I have learned in this class to help guide me through. Although all the speeches were nerve wrecking, this class was better than I expected and I had a really fun time throughout the semester :)
