Introduction Speech
Hope you enjoyed watching!
-This is my first time talking in a video about myself, and it was very hard for me to focus on one thing. I tend to get stuck because I run out of things to say. I can definitely improve on my tone; I felt very monotonous throughout the video even though I was trying to make jokes (I need to laugh or smile more). I seemed too serious. I also need to work on my eye contact; I kept rolling my eyes to the side. I should use more hand gestures or props to capture my audience's attention. I felt like my volume was fine, but I'm not sure if whoever is watching this feels the same way. I'm excited to learn on how to improve my communication skills, so your feedback is highly appreciated!
I would definitely love to work on my flaws with my communication skills this semester. I would want to improve on how to transition better from point to point, how to have a better tone, and how to capture my audience's attention. By the end of this speech class, I hope to be a great speaker!
Demonstration Speech
Hope you enjoyed my demonstration!
Acting Speech- Grandma Tala from Moana
My Favorite Speech
My favorite speech would be the video shown above, which is my monologue speech. I enjoyed acting out the scene from "Moana" and incorporating the small clips from the movie. I'm usually really shy when it comes to acting out scenes, so this speech made me come out of my comfort zone. The intonation and gestures I did throughout the video were worth all the practice!
Reflection on Goals
Throughout this course, I've learned how to improve my communication skills and boost my confidence when it comes to speaking in front of an audience. The speeches that we did in class, including the "This I Believe" speech and impromptu, helped me with finding ways on how to capture my audience's attention. I also did this in my videos of the demonstration and monologue speech. It was also a challenge trying to improve my tone and getting better with how to display certain emotions. I consider myself a quiet and reserved person, but I feel like I achieved the goal of showing better tones in each speech. As for transitioning, it is still a goal I hope to work on in the future. I tend to struggle with finding ways on how to transition from different topics, without getting stuck and lost for words. I hope to work on this by doing future speeches or presentations in my other courses. As for being a great speaker, this class has helped me with that goal but I must continue to work on it each day :)
