CO210-04: Introduction Assignment
Hey, classmates! I hope you enjoy and have a little understanding of who I am from this video.
|
Reflection: I tried my hardest not to keep my facial expression too straight and bland. I gave a smile, even laughed a little in some parts. BUT, there was a part of the video where my facial expression was so dull that even I thought of myself being uninterested in my speech. That would really throw off my audience and make them feel uninterested, because my attitude and expression toward my speech will reflect theirs.
Goals: Throughout this course, I hope it can help me change that and that it would stick with me forever because I have such a hard time controlling my face from “frowning” and looking mean during a speech. I guess because my confidence isn’t that high, so I hope this class helps me build up my confidence to smile in front of a crowd. |
I hope you all have a great day!
Final Course Reflection:
As stated above, my goals for this class were to not seem too angry while speaking in front on an audience or to refrain from having a straight face the entire time. I believe that I somewhat conquered that in the way that I smile from time to time only when needed. My confidence definitely boosted while learning from this class and it gave me so much courage to go in front of an audience to discuss a community issue that I thought was important. I’m usually afraid to preach the ideas that I strongly agree with, but this class helped me change that. Also, I hoped that from this class I would gain a sense of the need to prepare for speeches or presentations for anything. Gosh, did that get etched into my brain more successfully than I thought. I now understand the extremity of preparation and how greatly it would be appreciated come the day of the speech or presentation.
My favorite speech throughout the class was definitely my demonstration speech, because I got to teach my peers and instructor something they’ve probably never heard of before, the misanga bracelet. The meaning of that bracelet throughout the different cultures (Japanese/Portuguese that I know of) are something that would peak the interest in anyone: love, luck, care, treasure. Sharing this with my classmates was very special, because when I first learned about it I was completely indulged in it. I believe I did great on my demonstration speech, but for my peers and instructor to learn something this intricate in a short amount of time was a bit of a downfall on their part, totally understandable. I love how everyone was very captivated to understand as I was when I first learned. A way that I could improve would most likely try to find new, shorter, and easier ways to explain something as intricate as the bracelet.
