My Favorite Speech: This I Believe
A favorite speech of mine that I recited in my Speech course was the "This I Believe" speech. The "This I Believe" speech gave me an opportunity to voice my opinion towards everyone's strengths and weaknesses in regards to being smart. I was also able to encourage my peers to, perhaps, not look down on themselves because they think that they aren't enough or cannot do "it." Encouraging my fellow peers to, instead, have a can-do attitude made me feel good; which ultimately led me into liking this speech more than the other speeches that I have created and recited.
In the beginning of the course, I had goals to work on my nervousness, projection, preparedness in regards to speech, and choosing to prioritize my thoughts rather than my peers' thoughts. Currently, I can say that I've improved with my projection, preparedness, and choosing to prioritize my thoughts. However, I still notice that I often feel nervous every now and then; but I think that it's a pretty normal feeling to have before reciting something in front of a large crowd. At least I can confidently say that I've completed 3/4 of my goals -- which is more than enough for me. I plan on to continue on improving my speech goals through using the techniques that I've made for myself to help me relax; and I also plan on practicing a lot more beforehand, so that I would feel less anxious and look more professional.
Below is an audio recording of my "This I Believe" speech and the actual speech itself.
