To Build your own webpage follow the following steps.
Step 1. Open a student weebly account if you don't have one already. To do so search Weebly.com choose free student account and webpage for type. I suggest using your NMC Email and PW as your ID and PW so that you do not forget it. You will not need to do anything with the account for our class . However it is necessary to have an account of your own to edit on our class account.
Step 2. Check your email addresses used for our course and look for an invite to edit from Weebly on our course site which is "NMC Student Work". The link inviting you to edit on our course account will not work if you haven't done step 1.
Step 3. Open up two tabs in your browser bar. One for Weebly Editor and the Other as a guest. The Easiest way to build and edit your own webpage is to look at it with two tabs one as an editor (using link in step 2) . You will know that you are in Editing Mode when you see the editing tools in the menu on the left side of your screen as in the picture here
In this view you can build your webpage but you cannot see what it looks like to others. So it is better to have the site open and view it as a guest in another tab while you are working in the editor.
To view the site as a guest do a google search look for NMCstudent work and open this URL http://nmcstudentwork.weebly.com . The site is PW protected so guests need to type nmcstudent to view it. Once you are viewing it as a guest. Go to the HOME page and there you can always view your work. Either use the Tabs at the top with your course subject and scroll down ( red arrow) or simply type your name in the search box (blue arrow EASIEST!) and click on the link that pops up. Also there is a button with your course subject for this term you can click. All three methods pictured below.
One mistake a lot of students make initially is they start working on their free account rather than the class account. Make sure you are on NMCstudentwork weebly when you are building your page.
Step 4. The easiest part is building your page. There is only three things you MUST remember.
1) Do NOT EDIT the header or footer of your page SIMPLE. IF for some crazy reason your artistic side insists that you must edit the header or footer section of your webpage than before you save it remember to use the SAVE only on THIS page option. You DO NOT WANT TO MESS EVERYONE"S PAGES UP by saving YOUR HEADER ON their pages!!!!!!!
2). You have a whole page with YOUR NAME to work on. DO NOT work on someone else's page. Do not erase some one else's page or change someone else's page because you can't remember where your page is. Remember go to HOME in your guest tab type in your name and POOF like magic your page will appear and be easy to find.
3) Remember to save your work. Read this next sentence carefully. If you are typing on your webpage and want to save your work click PUBLISH. IF you are asked to "Save the page" this means you are changing the footer or header BE CAREFUL choose only the SAVE ONLY TO THIS PAGE OPTION.
3. Once you have your page opened for editing with the tools in the menu to the right. Simply drag the box you want to use. For example start your page with a title. You can drag a verticle or horizontal divider over if you want things to be side by side or below and on top of something else. There is a gallary option where you can upload multiple pictures . There is a video option where you can upload a youtube link. There are 2 document options one is a PDF that allows you to paste in your document and the reader can simply scroll down to read it. The other is a word document link that someone can click and download the documents pasted in. There is a text box like this one that you can drag over and simply type in or paste text directly on the screen. Have FUN!
