Self-Evaluation
My introduction video turned out extremely well than I expected, however, there are still aspects I could improve further on.
Immediately, I noticed that my voice maintained a loud volume and my pacing was appropriate. In addition, my facial expressions and tone of voice were engaging enough.
On the other hand, my pronunciation on some words were not clear and I stuttered in some parts. I will have to work on these two things as it can easily throw me off and dwindle my confidence.
Please make comments or suggestions on my introduction speech Thanks!

Demonstration Speech: How to Curl Hair with A Flat Iron
Flat irons are amazing tools to give you sleek, straight hair. However, did you know that you can also give yourself beautiful curls?
Here's how to do it:
Here's how to do it:
- Grab your heat protectant spray and spray it on your hair 6-8 inches away from mid-shaft to ends on damp or dry hair.
- Plug in your flat iron and decide what temperature fit your hair best. Fine, damaged hair = Below 300 degrees Normal hair = 300-380 degrees Thick/curly hair = 350-400 degrees
- Next, you want to section your hair as you go, starting from the bottom.
- Begin curling using one-inch sections. Grab your one-inch section and place it in between the plates.
Next, wrap the ends of the hair around the flat iron inwards and hold your iron and twist it outwards until the end of the hair sticks out between the plates.
For looser curls, pull the iron downwards fast and for tighter curls, pull it slowly.
When you are pulling down, angle your iron slightly vertical. - Move on the next section of hair
- Once you are done, you can run your fingers through your hair to loosen the hairs or simply wait. Now, take your hair spray, hold it away from hair and spray. After, you can scrunch up your hair for added volume

Favorite Speech |
My favorite speech is my This I Believe: The Power in Forgiveness piece because it is extremely personal to me. This speech actually did not take much effort, I wrote it with ease and in a short time. Additionally, it was quite scary as it revealed more about me, but I believe it makes it even more valuable. Overall, it is a piece that forces me out of my comfort zone as a reserved individual and I enjoyed putting my experience into words.

Reflection |
From the beginning of the course, my speech delivering skills and content creating was acceptable. I believe it was passable, but it could definitely improve. I made several class goals and they are (1) improve my pronunciation, (2) my ability to formulate effective, convincing speeches, (3) and to overcome my fear of public speaking. Furthermore, I believe I did achieve these goals, even if its not a big improvement. I noticed my skils are better than they were from the start of the course and I experience less fear regarding public speaking.
To continue improving my skills, I will approach every prospective speech assignment with the same means that I have done for this class. My preparation for speeches would include warm ups and I will work on the pronunciation of words I may have difficulty with. In addition, I will continue improving my speech at work as I interact with people. |
