Reflection
The topic I chose to do my research report on was on the protection of sea turtles in the CNMI since 2003 when the Sea Turtle Program. I feel like the topic I chose along with the research question was difficult and challenging for the most part, but in the end I think it was a fairly good topic because of those reasons. I liked how the answers I got from the research did not necessarily answer my question, but it gave me insights as to the precautionary measures taken to try and preserve what turtles we still have and the sea turtle eggs that are being laid on our beaches.
If I were to do another research report in the future I would like to continue this report that I started. Like I said it is interesting to me and I would like to see it through and gain more information and knowledge of these aquatic creatures. For future reference the thing that I would do differently is, since I got some research and data collected, try to be more involved with the sea turtle program and try to go on their sea turtle tagging missions, go to one of the nesting areas to see the hatchings firsthand… etc.
If I were given the opportunity to go back to the beginning of the semester and change my topic to a different one, I wouldn’t. Mainly because sea turtles are a part of our culture, part of our marine ecosystem, and part of our history, I would like to see that one day it would be taken off the endangered species list.
