Self-Introduction Reflection:
As I was recording, I thought I was doing very well. I did not take too much pauses and did not use any or too much fillers. I maintained a slight smile and made some facial expressions throughout the recording. After watching the final product, I noticed that I made a few 'mistakes.' I maintained eye contact with the camera in the beginning of the video, and then I kept looking around or focusing on the edge of the camera phone towards the end. I seemed nervous, even though I was alone, and I could hear it in my voice. Also, I spoke too fast in some parts of the video. Some of the goals I've set for myself are:

MY FAVORITE SPEECH OF THE COURSE IS...
my demonstration speech on How To Make Rice Krispies Treats! I chose this speech as my favorite because it was easy to prepare for and the treats were fun to make. Making Rice Krispies treats was something very familiar to me, so I knew what I needed and what I had to do. No 'stress' involved. It was also the first speech of the course that I felt relaxed and confident, even if I only presented in front of a handful of my classmates and our instructor. This speech also helped me to organize other presentations with mostly visuals and less words. |

It's the end of the course! Did I achieve my goals?
I strongly believe that from what I learned and all the work I did in this course has definitely helped me become more confident in presenting; however, I must also admit that my fear of presenting is still there. Even after numerous presentations, I still feel anxious before I present - my palms start sweating, my hands start shaking, my heart beats fast. BUT while I'm presenting, I slowly calm down.
I have yet to work on my pace and stamina! I don't know what it is with me, but every presentation I did, I felt like I was speaking too fast and was always running out of breath. During practices, I would speak at a normal, calm pace. During presentations, it's like I'm in a rush to get the speech over with and off the stage.
I think if I practice more and in front of different people, I'll get even better at publicly speaking or delivering presentations. I also need to really work on speaking at a normal pace and louder when I need to be. And with a lot of practice, I think I'll get these down!
- To overcome my fear of presenting (get over the jitters)
- To work on my pace and stamina (so I don't speak too quickly and lose my breath, and so that I can control my breathing when I get nervous)
