30 Day Challenge Speech
I have spent my entire life on Saipan and still never had the chance to visit certain spots in the island. I wasn’t able to accomplish all my goals with this 30 day challenge. On March 1st, our first adventure was to go to the beach. Having a day to relax, get away from everything and get to know my group members was needed. However, I met people, including new family members and 2 beautiful, amazing , smart, little girls that I call my daughters, Leighriana and Ani.
On March 6, our next adventure was to go sightseeing. Our first stop was the Last Command Post, then Banzai Cliff, then the “ Saipan “ sign, Bird Island, Grotto and Suicide Cliff. Being an indoor child, it honestly feels amazing to go out and see and learn about the different monuments around the island.
Our fitness consisted of Swimming and our walk at Laulau. On March 12, Selima, Edrianne, Destini and I took our first swim test and our second on March 14. For our first swim test, we had to swim a mile. From the shore to the tank and back without stopping or putting our feet down. Being scared of seaweed and scared of the ocean made me think twice about actually completing the test. However, Selima, Edrianne and Destiny had motivated me to finish the test. The start of the test I took my time. I was scared that I couldn’t make it because of my fears. I was actually the first one to finish the test. I am proud of myself for facing my fears and being the first to finish. After the test, we went for a walk. We had things to do the next few days so we decided to do our walk. Walking with a group is much better than walking alone. For the second test, we had to tread water for an hour. We also couldn’t touch the sand and could only float but that was it.
On March 13, Edrianne and I were supposed to meet up with Selima, but she had errands to do. Edrianne and I decided to get some work done and have lunch together at NMC. It’s always nice to have someone to do work with you and get things done together. However, I wished Selima was there with us.
Our last adventure that we did as a group was on March 15, my daughter Leiani’s birthday. I had an amazing time with my group members that came and my new family members. The water was nice and the food was good! This was the last day before the Corna Virus started.
Having the chance to do this challenge has also made me become stressed free. Since this pandemic has started, me and my group members weren’t able to continue this challenge, but we’ve managed to work as a team. We are trying to figure things out and, hopefully, complete this challenge. Despite all these challenges I faced, I still had an amazing time!
