REFLECTION & GOALS:
Hi everyone! Welcome to my page. Creating this video wasn't a problem but trying to get it on weebly and turn it in was confusing. I enjoy doing mini-projects like these but on other topics. Doing a video about yourself is a great thing; it makes you reflect on yourself. Please be honest about your opinion for this video. It will help me improve on what I need to work on. Thank you! My goals for this class would be trying to work on my posture and speaking in general. I catch myself using phrases such as "like, and, then, etc..." In the video, I bet you guys caught a lot of those phrases. I hope that once the semester is over, I become more confident in the way I speak. My main goal is professionalism. I hope I reach my goal because it will help me in the long run. Reflection: GoalsAs mentioned in my goals earlier in the class, I wanted professionalism. I believe that towards the end of class, that is when the professionalism kicks in. You will present a community issue speech, which is a whole lot of your grade. This speech you would have to dress up for and present in front of guests. In addition, the TED Talk book helps a lot with posture and being too "wordy" or not. Mrs. Bunts is a good teacher so your reference is her and the book. If you are reading this, good luck in class! You'll love it as much as I do.

Favorite Speech
My favorite speech would be the impromptu speech. Impromptu speeches are a great way to boost up your energy and it also gives you a way to step ahead about a topic. You are usually given one minute to prepare for a random topic. After your minute is up, it is your job to present it. This speech allows me to focus and concentrate on certain topics. It is better to get rid of your speeches, do it now!
This I Believe Essay: “The Power of a Woman vs. Man”
How many of you in this room had a hard time growing up because of your environment? When I was young, I watched my own mother struggle through life because of her relationship with a man. The environment I was in wasn’t comfortable. I had to go to school every day acting like everything's normal. Seeing someone you love get hurt and there’s nothing you can do about it hurts real badly. To be straight forward, my mother is a victim of domestic violence. She had the strength and courage to stand up for herself in so many ways. So you’re probably wondering how does this deal with me believing in something.. There are three types of weaknesses; emotional, physical, and mental. The strength of a woman is greater than that of a man.
First, I believe that women are stronger than men and I’m not just saying this because I’m a woman myself. Women have the ability to overcome obstacles that most men believe women can’t do. This brings the first type of weakness, emotional. Everyone cries when bad things happen and this makes us relieve stress. Most men see this as a weakness in a woman, but little do they know that showing no emotion is worst. A heartless person shows no emotion and most people think that this brings out a strong person. Depression and anxiety isn’t a sign of weakness. I believe that it’s a sign of remaining strong for a long period of time.
Secondly, there is physical weakness. Men who pinch, slap, kick, or choke women mostly do it because they don’t get what they want. Sometimes men wouldn’t be satisfied with their life and relationship which leads us to physical abuse. The stereotypical woman who say that they need a ‘strong’ man to open jars for her, although that is false. I believe that the physical strength of a woman is more powerful and can perform many tasks alone. A woman is known to have so many jobs (cooking, cleaning, daily job, watching over her family) and still have enough stamina for the whole day. In a sense men are weaker and can’t handle the jobs of a strong willed and independent woman.
Lastly, I think the hardest weakness to get over would be mental. Sometimes it’s hard to relieve pain most especially when it comes to the mind. I believe that women overcome this stage of weakness by thinking positive. Mental weakness takes a long period of time to get over and women have the strength to forget negativity. Unlike men, they take negativity to a whole different level and sometimes turn it into violence, proving men guilty of being weak themselves.
To sum it all up, these three weaknesses are stages that make up a powerful and strong woman. I personally think that women sacrifice so much more than men. This gives women the title to be a bigger and a much better role model than men in society. A woman who goes through so much pain and endures all the tears that fall across her cheeks has the courage and strength to push aside what affected her. Now you see, men can’t do that. Instead they decide to take small matters and transform it into bigger issues. Unlike women, they’d rather take initiative and solve every obstacle that comes their way because they are built like that; to be strong, and independent.
