30 DAY CHALLENGE:
|
Here are a few of my meals that I've eaten during my diet. I barely took pictures because I mostly forgot to! I was too excited to dig in. There also aren't much varieties with my meals, I'd usually make the same thing or eat the same thing from my work.

MEASUREMENTS AND WEIGHT LOSS: I've taken my measurements for my arms and legs and waist and honestly I am too shy to announce what my initial sizes were. But during the challenge or a little bit towards the end, I've lost 3 inches on my arms 1 inch on my legs and thighs and 2 inches on my waist. I've lost about 10 lbs. in total and that's when this challenge sort of went downhill. What I mean by downhill is that the pandemic started and I lost all sorts of motivation I could ever have.

The Thirty-Day Challenge
Kerry Jennings once said, “It’s going to be a journey, not a sprint to get in shape.” That is one hundred percent true. I personally have experienced weight loss and weight gain in just a span of a few years. The journey takes more than a sprint and more than just a workout. To be able to achieve a healthy lifestyle, there must be sacrifices as well hard work put into your progress. I have decided that for my thirty day challenge, I would lose weight. I’ve had my whole plan out into one sheet of paper. In order for me to make it to where I wanted to be I decided I wouldn’t eat after seven o’clock PM every day, just drink water, and workout or run at least two to four times a week.
Let me just say, I actually started on my challenge a week or two before the actual challenge started. I just had that determination to start earlier so I could see faster results and put my body in a reverse routine. The routine I was trying to get myself into was trying to not eat after seven o’clock. It was a little bit difficult for me in the beginning because seven o’clock is such an early end time for eating. Although I kind of felt like I was suffering, I did pull through. I feel like this process was the easiest thing to do with this challenge as I have gotten used to it super quickly. But all of the determination and motivation went down the drain once the quarantine started. Maybe I’m exaggerating but a few weeks into quarantine, I stopped that routine and ended up eating even until midnight if I was still awake at that time. I can say this pandemic interferes with the goals of this challenge.
In addition, I vowed I would just drink water for the last two weeks of the challenge but I have failed in doing so. I did drink water a lot more often, but it wasn’t the only beverage I was drinking. I work as a barista in Latte Cafe, so it was extremely difficult to not make myself a drink especially since I love to experience making new drinks. Not only was I just making drinks but I would just crave for different teas or juices and that’s why it interfered with my plan. My cravings have been a big factor of failure with this challenge. I am proud though that I did drink a lot more water than I used to. Other than that, another obstacle I’ve faced was trying to workout more than once a week.
Furthermore, I am not an athletic or active person in general so I thought I would’ve failed with this portion. I thought I wouldn’t be able to work out as much as I should just because I doubted myself especially with the weight I’ve gained. Surprisingly, I pushed myself to run or workout so I can really reach that goal. The first two weeks of the challenge I went running twice a week. I felt amazing that I was actually getting back into shape. But then COVID-19 reached Saipan and that’s when I stopped working out. I’ve mentioned in my challenge plan that I would workout at home if anything were to occur in the outside world. I’ve failed to do that. I love being outdoors when working out because it gives me more determination but now that a deadly virus is finally on island, it made me decide to just stay indoors and eventually have to change another routine due to the pandemic. I’ve definitely lost that motivation to keep this challenge going.
Other than facing the obstacles in my challenge, I’ve had success too. At the beginning of the challenge I’ve already lost seven pounds and that was the last time I took my weight down. Right when I’m about to check my weight again my scale goes missing? That is super weird, it’s like the universe or God was trying to tell me I should just push myself and not worry where I am right now. Before this pandemic reached Saipan, I was doing really good. I ate a lot more healthy food and less of the junk. I do not want to blame this virus but it did ruin a lot of things for me especially my complete weight loss. As I continued to go out into public, people noticed that I lost a lot more weight than just seven pounds and I felt that too, sadly I did not know how much I’ve lost. I finally bought a scale about two weeks ago and I’ve gained weight again but luckily I didn’t gain back to my original weight, I’m proud of that. It’s been difficult to get back on track and as of right now I’m not just thinking about this as an assignment, I’m thinking of it as a life changing style. I’m going to continue to push for this goal of mine.
