Self evaluations:
Throughout the years public speaking has always been difficult. It has a way of making me forget my thoughts, stutter and stare of into a blank space. However, my determination to improve is high. I'm aware of my flaws and lack of transitional words when it comes to speeches. The redundancy and uses of "um" are surely to be addressed. Thus, please bare with me as I am just a shy girl trying to gain experience. Thank you classmates!
Goals:
I hope to improve in body language, eye contact and uses of transitional words to further conversations. I want to learn how to lower my anxiety and nervousness when it comes to presentations. By the end of this course, I hope to have gained enough knowledge that will enable be to become an efficient worker and communicator.

Favorite Speech

I enjoyed practicing and presenting different types of speeches throughout the semester. One particular speech I really liked was the monologue/skit. Although it was challenging to memorize lines as an actress would, it was an enjoyable experience to act it out. The speech required teamwork and collaboration with my partner, as to step out of my comfort zone; which made it memorable for me. |
Self Reflection of Speech Class Goal
When I first started the semester I was nervous about presenting myself in front of strangers. I started off with a lack of confidence in my verbal and communication skills. However as the semester progressed, I realized that rehearsing and reading aloud to myself was key to improve. It was humbling, watching myself on the screen. I had hopes to improve in poise, body language and transitional words. Although I might not be perfect at public speaking, I have improved a great deal in terms of smoothness and cohesiveness in speaking. My nerves were a big factor to the shakiness of my voice or the awkward movements. In addition, I've learned in order to reduce the stress and anxiety, taking a moment to recollect and take deep breaths were crucial to my performance. Overall, I feel that I have achieved my goals that were set in the beginning in hopes of becoming an efficient communicator.
