30 Day Challenge Speech:
Adventure & Fitness
Initially, I had my own 30 day challenge to accomplish, but I was asked to join the group and had to work around my schedule with school, my family, and my daughters. At first, I was hesitant to do it as a group because I was the oldest in the group and I had kids. I later figured joining this group would be easier as it had more people and I needed to get out of my comfort zone. The group consisted of Rayanna, Edrianne, Debra, Marlisa, Destini, Tyler, and I. I honestly didn't expect things to go the way it did.
On March 1st, we had our first adventure which was going to the beach. We wanted to get to know each other outside of school. Everyone had a great time. My daughters, Leighriana and Leiani, joined us. They both love the beach and enjoy meeting new people and I was glad they were able to meet some of the people I go to school with. They got to swim with the group and got to know them. The three of us had a great time and I enjoy the fact that my kids were able to join.
On March 6th, we had our second adventure which was going around the island to sightsee. The first stop we made was Last Command post, then Banzai Cliff, the “Saipan” sign, Bird Island, grotto, and Suicide Cliff. We ended our sightseeing at Bantalon. At this point, I started getting close to the girls and Tyler, which I didn't expect, especially with our age differences. I got to know each one personally and I was honestly blessed to have met people who accepted daughters and I. Being a 27-year old mother who was going to college with 18-year-olds made me feel self-conscious, but the group accepted me and did not make me feel left out.
Our fitness consisted of a swim test and a walk at Lao Lao Bay Golf Resort on March 7th. Doing exercises as a group is so much more fun than doing it alone! The swim test was the hardest. Destini, Edrianne, Rayanna, and I had to swim from the shore at Guma Sakman to the tank and back without touching the ground or stopping. I was more exhausted from that than I was from the walk we did at Lao Lao Bay Golf Resort. The walk we did made time go by so quickly because there were five of us. Another fitness we did was another swim test on March 14. We had to tread water for an hour. We could not touch the ground, we could float but that was it. It went by a little faster because our instructor, Emma, made us play games.
The last adventure we did as a group was my youngest daughter, Leiani's birthday, which was on March 15, at the beach. Debra and Tyler were the only ones who couldn’t make it but everyone else came. I was so busy hosting but I hope everyone enjoyed their time. This was the last day before the quarantine started and put a hold to all our adventures.Everyone was too scared to break the 6 feet rule because no one wanted to get the virus, but despite all this, we still managed to keep in contact and got closer as a group and as friends.
