Self-Introduction Video
|
Hi Everyone, in this video I am going to introduce and tell you a little bit about myself and one or two goals I have.
My name is Sabrina Santos, I am the youngest of four, I am from Kagman III, and I graduated in the year 2016 from Kagman High School. I currently work at PHI Pharmacy (The Pharmacy You Can Trust), as a billing assistant and a cashier. Also, I am currently enrolled at NMC on my third semester, I am majoring in Natural Resource Management. I chose this major because I love the ocean and as I dream of becoming a Marine Biologist. One of my goals is to achieve a PhD in Marine Biology. My second goal is for speech class, to overcome my fear of standing in front of large crowds and be able to present speeches professionally. |

Reflection
For my goals in speech class, I have achieved standing in front of (i wouldn't say a crowd), but an entire class and giving my all to perform my speeches. I may have not done it professionally, but I know i did quite good. The two speeches of mine that I liked the most would be the "This I Believe Speech" and an impromptu speech on "Why homework causes stress." I liked this I believe because it was dedicated to someone I lost two months ago and I hope it could teach someone out there that time is really precious these day, spending it with loved ones the right way will all be worth it in the end. As for the impromptu, I liked it because it was one of the easiest! I didn't even have to use the internet this time, I already have a sense of what too much homework does to a student. For the future I will work on my tone, body language, and time management to get the professionalism a good speaker has. |
Making It Count
“Time is precious.” Yes, it’s such a cliche’ but this is something I strongly believe in. Nowadays, people are so preoccupied with work, social media, technology, etc. that they tend to forget about what matters the most—like spending time with loved ones.
I just recently lost a loved one who was near and dear to my heart. He was like a second father to me. He was so important that now that he’s gone, there seems to be a void in my life. His death was so sudden and so “out of nowhere” that it made me believe how precious time really is—it opened my eyes to how true the saying is. His death has made me realize that families need to spend more time with each other, making every moment count because you never know when you will lose someone.
Today, most people are so attached to their gadgets (cell phones, iPad's, etc.), when they gather with loved ones they aren’t really “present.” I feel it is important for families to put down their cell phones, their iPad's, or whatever gadget has them preoccupied and really spend time with each other. Even if it is something as simple as having dinner, watching a movie, or playing a random board game that the family can enjoy. Instead of sitting around staring at your cellphone, make memories that will last a lifetime. That way, when you do lose a loved one, you can look back on the wonderful memories and you will be content knowing that you did not waste any time—you made every moment with that loved one count.
I believe that “time is precious.” After all, you never know when the time you have with them will come to an end. Take it from me, I wish I had more time to make more memories with my Uncle. All I can do now is make sure that I spend more time with other loved ones and cherishing the time I have with them.
I chose this speech as my favorite because it has meaning to me. I dedicated this speech to someone I lost during the time I got this assignment and honestly I hope some people take this as an advice. It is really hard to see someone you love go, especially someone you never expected would leave so soon. So, take all the time ou have now to spend it with your mother, father, grandma/pa, siblings, whoever because in the end you will have all the insanely beautiful memories to cherish.
