Final Reflection:
Throughout this course I've been a nervous wreck. However, I do believe that, despite my nervousness, I am now able to write a give speeches that have some type of organization and good content. From the beginning I was nervous about what kind of people would be watching me speak, but my class was so awesome and supportive and they really made it easier for me to walk up to the podium and open my mouth without fear of judgement. This was a great experience.

Goals for this semester |
Doing this assignment was difficult for me because of three things: I'm shy, I don't like recording myself, and I don't like talking about myself. When a grade is at stake, however, the dreaded deed must be done.
I am generally very nervous when it comes to publicly displaying myself and my opinions, and doing this assignment was no different. I did multiple takes because I either mispronounced a few words, made a long pause between sentences, or I found my voice to be at an unsatisfactory level. Thankfully, I wasn't required to sound or act formal in this video, although I do think that I was a bit too informal. This one assignment made me realize that I have a huge mountain to climb. |
I want to be able to speak like a president.
I want to be able to formulate and verbally communicate compelling opinions that far exceed 140 characters. I want to be able to look someone in the eye and tell them why chocolate does indeed go well with bacon, and that their discriminate view on unusual food pairings is simply unforgivable. And I wish to rid these nerves forever as they are a blight to my everyday living. Their eradication will be instrumental in unleashing my potential as a vocal, speech-competent college student. But mostly I just want an A for this class. Gotta keep that transcript lookin sharp. |
